		<description>BRIEF
Design and construct a collaborative installation for DIA's Homegrown, a part of Regional Flavours Festival, in Southbank, Brisbane.

RATIONALE
BrisbaneGROWth was designed for Aqua Restaurant. The installation consisted of hundreds of coreflute and plywood boxes. These boxes took over the entire shopfront to produce a pixelated representation of the Brisbane River.

Patrons of the restaurant were invited to submit their own personal favourite recipes over the month that the installation was in place.

This project was completed with Corrine Cognet, Jennifer Hudson, Magda Myszkowski, Hayley Phillips and Josh Spillane .

		<description>BRIEF
Design a lighting object that will fit with and improve a researched environment.

RATIONALE
Designed for Olivomare, a high-end seafood restaurant in London, Aurelia compliments its surrounding environment whilst providing a unique and eye catching design. Laser cut acrylic panels form the body and off-cuts from the fabrication process are suspended with nylon line. The piece was selected to be showcased in the 2011 QUT exhibition, ‘The Shape of Things to Come’

This Project was completed with Claire Moren, Kate Tuffley and Christina Willington.

BRIEF
Research a topic and conduct observations of an environment. Identify user needs within the topic and apply this research to the design of a product that addresses user needs within the environment.

RATIONALE
The design addresses the barrier between digital and physical work within the design classroom. By allowing students and teachers to quickly and easily show and manipulate ideas, productivity is increased. Multiple units are able to be used to extend the work surface. This allows users to work individually or in groups with ease.

The research article can be read here.

		<description>BRIEF
Design an item of joinery or installation for a large suburban shopping centre.

RATIONALE
Boru is an origami screen constructed by fusing used plastic shopping bags. Designed to encourage the interaction of patrons whilst undertaking the often mundane task of shopping. The piece was selected to be exhibited in the Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre at the conclusion of the semester.

		<description>BRIEF
Collaborate with an outside researcher and transpose their research into a tangible and marketable product.

RATIONALE
Emic allows singers to intuitively and freely manipulate their voice. This solution allows users to break free of the traditional guitar effects pedals that often inhibit their creative process. Usability and functionality were both addressed in order to make the user’s performance as natural as possible. This was achieved by utilising a system of gestures and simple interactions with
the product.

		<description>BRIEF
Develop an appropriate and elegant design solution that improves our experience with the air that surrounds us.

RATIONALE
Drawing inspiration from a trip to Los Angeles, where the level of pollution was only visible at dusk, it was clear that a solution was needed. This street lamp allows the public to be continually aware of the pollution in their surrounding environment through the use of colour changing LED lighting. Wind energy is harvested with a windbelt generator that utilises aeroelastic flutter.
